Human Food For Dogs® With Sensitive Stomachs
If your dog has a sensitive stomach and you haven’t been able to find a commercial dog food that’s tolerable, you might have resorted to cooking your own dog food.
If so, you’re not alone…that’s what led our founder Katie McCarron to start Portland Pet Food Company. In 2014, Katie was looking for a healthier dog food option for her senior dog, Rosie, in order to restore Rosie’s appetite and help her gain weight.
Human Foods Dogs Love
Limited ingredients. Fresh, whole, human-grade foods. No synthetics, preservatives, additives, byproducts, or rendered foods. That’s what Katie cooked at home and fed Rosie, and soon, Rosie became livelier, added back weight, and even had a shinier coat.
Today, we still make our dog food toppers and dog treats following the same principles and recipes Katie used in her own kitchen, which is why we call them Homestyle Meals! We just make a lot more of them, and we’re happy to save you the trouble of cooking your own human food for your dog!
Check out the human foods we use in our toppers that are great for dogs with sensitive stomachs:
Chicken And Yams Dog Food Toppers
Boiled chicken is one of the “go-to” human foods that people often feed their dogs with sensitive stomachs, and yams is a popular choice, too. Our chicken and yams dog food topper has chicken, yams, and rice as its top ingredients - three staples for dogs with sensitive stomachs.
Turkey And Yams Dog Food Toppers
Boiled turkey is also good for dogs with sensitive stomachs. Our turkey and yams dog food topper has turkey, green beans, and yams as its top ingredients.
Salmon And Rice Dog Food Toppers
Salmon is a great human food for dogs with sensitive stomachs, but the smell of cooking it and the cost of salmon are often drawbacks. Fortunately, our salmon and rice dog food topper not only has protein-rich salmon in it, but the topper also contains rice – another human food that’s often recommended for dogs with sensitive stomachs.
Beef And Rice Dog Food Toppers
Our beef and rice dog food topper stems from Katie’s original recipe for Rosie. Today, the top ingredients in this topper are beef, brown rice, peas, and carrots.
Pork And Potatoes Dog Food Toppers
Boiled potatoes often show up in lists of human foods for dogs with sensitive stomachs, and our pork and potatoes dog food topper contains just that with pork, potatoes, carrots, and green beans.
By gently cooking our dog food toppings inside meal pouches, we lock in the nutrients of the fresh, whole foods that we use. Lightweight and portable, the pouches have a shelf-stable life of two years and can be refrigerated for up to four days.
