When it comes to cat food, sometimes the less ingredients, the better – particularly for senior cats and picky cats.

Too many ingredients in cat food can lead to sensitive stomachs, GI distress, allergies, and other health issues.

What Does Limited Ingredient Mean In Cat Food
In the cat food industry, “limited ingredient” is a loose term. Many cat food products from some of the largest manufacturers advertise their products as limited ingredient and then include 20 or more ingredients in them. To truly know what you’re feeding your cat, you’re going to have to start reading labels. And if too many of the ingredients on the label are unfamiliar to you, it might be wise to choose another brand of cat food.

We REALLY Mean Limited Ingredient In Our Cat Food Toppers
At Portland Pet Food Company, when we say limited ingredient, we really mean limited ingredient. Our two flavors of cat food toppers contain fewer than 9 ingredients, and you’ll recognize the ingredients as foods you might feed your family.

What’s In Our Cat food Toppers
Our cat food toppers are made with fresh and healthy, natural, human-grade foods. Made in the USA, our cat food toppers are slow-cooked in small batches, and most of our ingredients are locally sourced – from food vendors near our headquarters in Portland, Oregon.

What’s NOT In Our Cat Food Toppers
As importantly as what we’ve put in our cat food toppers is what we’ve left out. None of our products contain any additives, preservatives, supplements, feed-grade foods, rendered foods, artificial colors or flavors, or byproducts.

Some companies add phosphorous  to their cat food, because the mineral enhances the texture of food and acts as a preservative, lengthening the shelf life of the product. We don’t do that! Because our cat food is low-phosphorous, it’s a great choice for cats who have kidney disease or are prone to it, and it still has a 2-year shelf life.

Senior Cats Love Our Cat Food Toppers
As cats get older, they can develop sensitive stomachs and become intolerant of certain ingredients. This is due, in part, to their stomachs and intestines losing the ability to break down and absorb nutrients as well as they once could. Poor quality ingredients, in particular, can make digestion worse and lead to GI issues. And if senior cats are vomiting, experiencing diarrhea, or losing their appetite, this can lead to weight loss. Introduce your senior cat to our cat food toppers, and you might see not only a decrease in GI issues, but also an uptick in their appetite.

Picky Cats Love Our Cat Food Toppers
Some cats are picky because of sensitive stomachs and food intolerance, and other cats are just plain picky. Whatever the cause, some of the pickiest cats have wolfed down our cat food toppers…and licked the bowl clean. If you want to avoid mealtime battles with your picky cat, try feeding them our cat food toppers!
