How PPFC Works With Nonprofits
Portland Pet Food Company wants every animal to be well fed and happy, which is why we work with incredible local organizations to donate five percent of net profits. Whether you're searching for a place to adopt a dog or want to make a donation, here are our favorite organizations!
Bonnie Hayes Small Animal Shelter
The Bonnie Hayes Animal Shelter is open to the public six days a week and care for animals all 365 days of the year. In 2016, 4,000 stray, abandoned, or neglected animals came through the shelter’s doors. They reunited over 1,200 dogs and cats with their worried families last year. Bonnie Hayes Animal Shelter offers adoption and relocation services for pets, as well as spaying and neutering services, emergency disaster preparedness training and additional educational courses.
Oregon Humane Society
The Oregon Humane Society rescues, heals and adopts more than 11,000 pets each year. They never place a time limit on how long cats, dogs and other pets stay at their shelter. OHS provides adoption, education, and animal cruelty investigation programs. We are proud to support OHS in their mission to end petlessness.
The Pongo Fund
The Pongo Fund is Oregon’s only full-time charity focused on fighting animal hunger, because hungry people have hungry pets. They work on reducing shelter populations and keeping families together by providing emergency pet food assistance to anyone in honest need.
One Tail at a Time Dog Rescue
One Tail at a Time PDX is a no-kill, 501(c)3 all-breed dog rescue committed to lowering euthanasia rates through the rescue and adoption of dogs in need, comprehensive support of adopters and community outreach through humane education programs and assistance for disadvantaged and low-income families. All OTAT PDX dogs live in approved, loving and committed volunteer foster homes.
The Pixie Project is a non-profit animal adoption center and rescue. We offer a variety of services to the public including but not limited to: pet adoption services, pet owner education and support and low cost and free spay and neuter and veterinary services for homeless and low-income pet owners
DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital, established in 1973 and based in Portland, Ore., is the only nonprofit, 24-hour emergency and intensive care unit in the region. DoveLewis provides donor-funded programs to the community, including one of the United States’ largest volunteer-based animal blood banks, a nationally recognized pet loss support program, an animal-assisted therapy program, education for veterinary professionals and the animal-loving community, 24-hour stabilizing care for lost, stray and wild animals and financial assistance for qualifying low-income families and abused animals.
Last year, we were happy to help with no-kill shelter Austin Pets Alive!'s Hurricane Harvey drive. Since 2008, APA! has saved nearly 50,000 dogs and cats from being killed at Central Texas shelters.
